About
Owen Tanner-Flomberg is a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, Chicago-based attorney, and the founder of Tanner-Flomberg Law. He advises individuals, families, and small to medium-sized businesses with a practice focused on business assistance and advising, business acquisitions, estate planning, criminal and DUI defense, family law, and real estate matters. Owen is also a licensed REALTOR, allowing him to provide clients with integrated legal and transactional insight in real estate-related matters.
Owen’s legal practice is grounded in a client-first philosophy. He prioritizes clarity, responsiveness, and practical problem-solving, with a focus on helping clients navigate complex legal and financial decisions during pivotal moments in their lives and businesses. Whether advising entrepreneurs on acquisitions, guiding families through estate planning or family law matters, or defending clients in criminal cases, Owen approaches each matter with care, professionalism, and respect.
Owen earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he was deeply involved in student leadership and civic life. He founded and led multiple student organizations, served in student government, and was recognized with the University of Tennessee’s Chancellor’s Citation for Extraordinary Campus Leadership and Service. He was also a member of the College Scholars Program, Chancellor’s Honors Program, and Phi Beta Kappa.
He earned his J.D. and an LL.M. in Negotiation and Dispute Resolution from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law. While in law school, Owen served as an Executive Articles Editor on the Washington University Journal of Law and Policy and authored a published law journal note. His academic training emphasized negotiation, public-interest law, and institutional problem-solving—skills that directly inform his approach to client representation.
In addition to his legal practice, Owen is actively engaged in volunteer and civic service. He co-founded the Student Basic Needs Coalition and currently serves as a Senior Advisor, supporting national efforts to expand access to food, housing, and public benefits for college students. He also serves as the founding National Executive Director of Kappa Alpha Pi Pre-Law and Government Fraternity, is a board member of the American Constitution Society’s Chicago Chapter, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Orange Tent Project. His volunteer work has also included extensive voter protection and election administration efforts with campaigns, state parties, and national organizations.
